Backyard concert in Douglas Park - Ardmore

Douglas Park neighborhood resident Henry Dunbar hosts a well-attended summer Backyard Concert Series at his home. Ardmore, a local group specializing in Celtic and Americana music, recently performed on a lovely June evening.

Thanks to Henry for his contribution to the cultural life of the Pike's diverse community. Makin' folks happy.

Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC) - Conference and gala 2024

The Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC), headquartered just off Columbia Pike, held a training session, conference, and gala event for its members, associated organizations, and supporters. ECDC is a major refugee resettlement organization, with numerous offices across the United States. This year there were many attendees supporting refugees from Ukraine, Afghanistan, El Salvador, the Congo, Sudan, and other nations who have come to America to escape the troubles in their home countries. Noteworthy speakers from the State Department and the United Nations were among the many presenters. This year's entertainment at the gala featured a Ukrainian women's singing group and a DJ spinning Ethiopian and Afropop music.

Congratulations to ECDC founder and director Dr. Tsehaye Teferra and his hard-working and capable staff.
