Our team's book Transitions is being used in an English composition class taught at Arlington Tech by Peter Stephens.  Photos and text from the book are on display on the classroom's walls, as part of a curriculum focused on learning about the diverse community we live in.

Stay tuned for pictures of the class.

Ethiopian Christmas reception at ECDC

ECDC, the Ethiopian Community Development Council, held its annual Ethiopian Christmas reception at their headquarters next to Columbia Pike. A wide range of community members celebrated, and were addressed by Dr. Tsehaye Teferra, ECDC's founder and director. The event's Ethiopian cuisine was provided by Meaza restaurant, on the Pike corridor.

Politics and Pies

The annual "Politics & Pies" gathering was held at Acme Pie on the Pike. Hosted by the community's local elected official, Virginia Assembly Delegate Alfonso Lopez, it featured US Congresswoman (and candidate for Governor of Virginia) Abigail Spanberger. Also attending were County Board members Susan Cunningham, Takis Karantonis, and Maureen Coffey, and Sheriff Jose Quiroz. It was a chance to chat with Members before the start of the Virginia General Assembly session, to sample chef Sol Schott's excellent pies, to schmooze, to energize Democratic Party activists in this election year, and play pinball.
