This year's Columbia Pike Blues Festival featured a number of local and nationally-known blues artists, including the Sol Roots band, Jonny Grave, Full Power Blues Band (pictured), Rufus Roundtree and the B'more Brass Factory, and was headlined by two-time Grammy winner Bettye LaVette. Also featured was Katherine E. Young, the Poet Laureate of Arlington, reading a piece she has written about Columbia Pike.
Thanks to the festival (and our!) sponsor, the Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization (CPRO), especially Cecilia Cassidy and Amy McWilliams, for their hard work in bringing this annual cultural event to our community.

52nd Annual Flores-Gambino Family Memorial Day Picnic
2017 marks the 52nd annual celebration of the Flores-Gambino Family Memorial Day Picnic, in the Penrose neighborhood, just off Columbia Pike.
Thanks again to Maria Flores, Joe Flores, Maria "Pete"Durgan, and the whole Flores-Gambino clan, who have lived in the same Arlington neighborhood since the 1920's. Great hosts, they know how to create a real homegrown patriotic community/family party, and have been doing so every year since 1965.
