Swapping Stories

A lively and well-attended storyswapping workshop, led by master storyteller Judy Klevens, was held at Arlington's Walter Reed Community Center. It was part of the Tell Arlington's Story initiative.

Thanks to Dulce Carrillo, Arlington County's Multicultural Marketing, Outreach and Advocacy Manager for facilitating this opportunity.

Arlington Mill Community Center/demolition interiors

These photographs were made inside the old Arlington Mill Community Center the night before it was finally demolished.

Photographer Duy Tran first learned photography at the Mill as a member of Paula Endo's Columbia Heights West Teen Photo Program. The home where he grew up, and where his parents still live, is within a half-block of this site.

A new center will begin being constructed in summer 2011.

Thanks to Fernando Jordan, ACFCU's community relations specialist, for arranging for the photo shoot, and to the diverse staff and management who participated.

ACFCU is a new supporter of the Columbia Pike Documentary Project. Their help is much appreciated.
