Ethiopian Christmas party at ECDC - 37th year (portraits and a coffee service)

The Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC), holds an annual community festival to celebrate the end of Christmas according to Ethiopian Coptic Church practice. ECDC has been hosting this event for 37 years.

Thanks to Dr. Teferra and the capable staff for their much-needed work on behalf of refugees and immigrants, and for the wider Columbia Pike community.

The Columbia Pike Documentary Project will be collaborating with ECDC on a new grant funded by Virginia Humanities. Stay tuned.

Transitions catalog at the printer!

Exciting news!

Transitions, the Columbia Pike Documentary Project's the new book length catalog, is now at the printers!

Elegantly designed by our team member Xang Ho, it is 296 pages long, with numerous in-depth interviews of Columbia Pike residents, business owners and community leaders by Sushmita Mazumdar and Lloyd Wolf, and insightful photo essays by Dewey Tron, Lara Ajami, Moises Gomez, Xang Ho, and Lloyd Wolf.

It takes deep plunge into telling the stories of a diverse community in transition.
And it's really beautiful, too.
