Harvey Hall Community Center | women's arts group

The Harvey Hall Community Center, 850 South Greenbrier Street, just off Columbia Pike in Arlington, hosts a number of education, counseling, and empowerment activities, sponsored by Arlington County's Community Outreach Program.

This group of women meets weekly to create a variety of arts and crafts projects for themselves, their families, and as donations for the needy.

Thanks to Luz Stroh, the program director, for her help, and her years of effective committed, grassroots work.

Urban Gardening, Virginia Gardens

BRAVO, the Arlington tenants rights organization, has been promoting urban food gardening in the community. They have provided plants to several apartment complexes in the County, including Virginia Gardens, not far from Columbia Pike.

Numerous vegetables and herbs are provided, and are tended and harvested by the residents.

Virginia Gardens is managed by AHC, an Arlington non-profit affordable housing developer.

Thanks to Dennis Jaffe of BRAVO and Kirsten Buhls of the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service for their good work on this project.
