Poetry on the Pike | "for our stories to be heard"

Night views, poetry on the Pike.

From a County arts press release: The Nation’s 23rd Poet Laureate Joy Harjo joins Arlington Poet Laureate Holly Karapetkova, 2020 DC Youth Poet Laureate, Marjan Naderi, and Virginia Poet Laureate Luisa Igloria, whose poems were projected onto the walls of Penrose Square (2597 Columbia Pike, Arlington, VA 22204) as part of Visual Verse. The work was brought to life by acclaimed projection artist Robin Bell.

Thanks to Arlington Special Projects Curator Cynthia Connolly and Robin Bell for their help with this work.

Prio Bangla Multicultural Car Parade

The Bangladeshi-American organization Prio Bangla has been holding its annual multicultural festival along Columbia Pike for many years. This year, taking precautions due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic, the event consisted of a safe socially-distanced car parade through the area. Other ethnic groups, particularly representatives of our large Bolivian-American citizens, also participated in the colorful celebratory salute to diversity and civic participation.

Thanks to Pryalal Karmakar and the whole energetic Prio Bangla crew.
