Transitions exhibition- installation at George Mason University's Founder's Gallery.

The new exhibition Transitions: The Columbia Pike Documentary Project is now on display at George Mason University's Founders Gallery in Van Metre Hall at the GMU Arlington Campus.

Thanks to curator and exhibition producer Professor Emma Balazs and her arts management class and to Don Russell, curator and director of the Provisions Research Center for Art and Social Change at GMU for beautifully installing the work.

The exhibition features the photographs and stories collected by CPDP team members Lara Ajami,  Moises Gomez, Xang Ho, Sushmita Mazumdar, Dewey Tron, and Lloyd Wolf.

The opening reception and book signing that was to be  held at the gallery on March 21, 2020, between 4 and 6 pm. has been postponed. Stay tuned for updates and a re-scheduling.

A fun short video of the installation process can be seen here:

Mongolian Tsagaan Sar | Lunar New Year 2020 along the Pike

Mongolian Tsagaan Sar, the Lunar New Year Festival for the Year of the Rat, was recently celebrated at the Montessori Public School of Arlington, just off Columbia Pike.

The occasion featured Mongolian foods, dance, traditional wrestling and costumes, artwork, singing, and stories from Mongolian lore. Great respect is paid to the elders.

The community estimates its numbers in the area to be between six and eight thousand people.

Lovely folks.

You can keep updated on the community through the Friends of Mongolia.
