Flores-Gambino 46th Memorial Day Party

Photographs from the 46th annual Flores-Gambino Memorial Day party, in the Penrose neighborhood along the Pike. Homegrown music, potluck, old-school good cheer; family, friends, community.

Thanks to Pete Durgan, her mom, and brother Joe, for hosting the festivities, and for inviting members of the George Mason University folklore field research team to begin their oral history process.

These new interviews will significantly deepen the meaning and scope of the Columbia Pike Documentary Project.
