Ethiopian Christmas celebration at ECDC
A few images from the lively annual Ethiopian Christmas party at the Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC) offices on S. Highland Street, just a block off Columbia Pike in Arlington, Virginia.
The Abyssinian Coptic Church, like the Orthodox Christian churches, celebrates Christmas at the end of the twelve-day nativity cycle.
A splendid time - along with plentiful injera and other locally-prepared Ethiopian (and Thai!) food - was had by all.
Thanks to Dr. Tsehaye Teferra and his staff for their gracious hospitality, provided to a wide range of Arlington's diverse citizens.

Dreaming... the earth was covered: Deep snow along the Pike
On Saturday December 19, 2009, two days prior to the winter solstice, a record storm blanketed 20-plus inches of snow on Arlington, the deepest December snowfall here since the 1870's.
These photographs were taken the next day in the 5500 and 5600 blocks of Columbia Pike, many near the Harvey Hall Apartments, and where South Greenbrier Street meets the Pike.

Realtor- Foxcroft Heights
This dynamic young realtor aptly describes himself as an "up-and-coming resident of the Columbia Pike/Arlington Community." He is the vice president of the Foxcroft Heights neighborhood, at the far eastern end of Columbia Pike.
He is a real estate investor and active realtor, and owns several homes in the Foxcroft community. He is trying to improve the standards of living there while helping increase land values for its residents. He notes "It makes sense revitalizing Foxcroft Heights, seeing that it's face is to Columbia Pike and the backdrop to the Air Force Memorial and Pentagon."
Originally from central Pennsylvania, he has lived in Arlington for about ten years.
In speaking of the neighborhood, he states "this is an exciting time for Columbia Pike residents, as we will see lots of change in the next few years with the Navy Annex coming down, and with the trolley coming soon!”
