The Arlington View neighborhood traditionally known as Johnson Hill, a historically Black community along Columbia Pike, held its first ever Neighborhood Day. It was organized and sponsored by the Arlington View Civic Association, and held at the Carver Center, adjacent to Hoffman-Boston School, 1415 S Queen St, Arlington, VA 22204.
A variety of programs relating to history, health, safety, the environment, education, and fun for youth in this diversifying area were held.
Thanks to Craig Syphax and other citizens for their help.
It features the pictures, video, and interview texts of every CPDP artist since the project's start in 2007 to the present: Paula Endo, Dewey Tron, Lara Ajami, Sushmita Mazumdar, Aleksandra Lagkueva, Lloyd Wolf, and Moises Gomez.
Many thanks to MoCA Arlington's executive Catie Anchin, curator Blair Murphy, the entire MoCA-A staff and our sponsors at Columbia Pike Partnership for their backing and hard work.
We especially thank our great community of supporters and subjects who attended the opening, and who make our work both meaningful and possible. Our gratitude to Virginia Delegate Alfonso Lopez and David Bearinger of Virginia Humanities for their generous remarks at the opening.
CPDP is work done of, by, and for the community.
